Bio

Mr. James Dix began his engineering career at the Institute for Applied Aerospace Research on the Middle Georgia State University Eastman Campus. There, he specialized in prototyping UAV components for renowned aerospace companies such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Subsequently, he joined the Georgia Institute of Technology as an Equipment Specialist and Designer, where he managed a metal fabrication lab, a 3D printing lab, and a composites lab. In this role, he provided design and instructional support to students and the local community.

Following his tenure at Georgia Tech, Mr. Dix worked for Genesis Engineering, fabricating parts for the cryogenic testing mock-up of the James Webb Space Telescope. Some of these components were upgraded to flight hardware and are currently in use on the JWST. In 2015, he was approached by Dodge County High School to consult on the implementation of the NASA Hunch program, leading to his role in developing the school's engineering program.

Mr. Dix currently serves as the engineering teacher at Houston County High School, where he also sponsors the First Robotics Team.
