Bio
My name is Dr. Angela Stokes, and I will be teaching American Literature during the 2023-24 school year. I am very excited about making this a very rewarding year for the students in my class. Just a little about my background. I am originally from Alabama and an avid ALABAMA fan (Roll Tide!!!). I am married to Terrance. We have two wonderful kids, Brianna (20), who is a college junior majoring in marketing, and Telvin (28), who received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications from the University of West Georgia and currently working in media productions. My hobbies include reading, researching, exploring various genres of music, traveling, and shopping. This is my second year at Houston County High School, but my 26th year teaching. I have a Bachelor’s, Master’s, Specialist and Doctorate Degree in education. My philosophy of education involves the notion that everyone can learn if equipped with the right tools. My teaching is based on the premise that all students can learn, despite any obstacles along their path. I believe that it is my job as an educator to support my students and help them get over any challenges they may encounter. The ultimate goal for my class is to prepare all students to become lifelong learners with lifelong skills in listening, reading, speaking, and written communication. Parents, I look forward to working with you and your child. My door is always open, so please feel free to contact me with any concerns. I hope that you and your child have a great year. Bear Down!
