HOCO Announcements

Houston County High School would like to invite you and your child to the annual AP- Advanced Placement Night held in the theater on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 6:00 pm.  AP Night is an opportunity to learn about the 19 AP course offerings we have and meet with the teachers of your interests prior to evening advisement. Please contact the guidance office with any questions and we look forward to having you!

Soccer tryouts are today, Tuesday the 16th after school. You must have a physical on file.  Please meet at the soccer field.

Track tryouts begin today (1/16/18). You must have a current physical on file or with you to participate.

Attention all bears! It's that time again...Mr. HOCO is back! Please see Coach Lamb in the gym to sign up.

FBLA students attending Region next week will need to meet Thursday after school in room 701 from 2:50 to 3:15
. Mrs. Jackson will discuss details including dress, meeting places and times.

Congratulations to the HCHS FFA Dairy Show Team.  The team travelled to Lee Co Saturday with the following results:
1st Place 10th Grade Showmanship: Haley Mungia

11th grade Showmanship:  2nd place Christian Roe,    3rd Place Katarina Jackson

Conformation class winner: Jamir Best

Students, If you like crime dramas, come join us in Film Club for our next classic movie, "On the Waterfront" starring Marlon Brando.  This film about a former boxer who "coulda been a contender" will be shown in room 804 on Thursday, Jan. 18th after school.

 Attention HOCO GUYS!!!  You’ve asked for a guy’s volleyball team and we have the opportunity this spring!

Anyone who is interested in trying out – please plan to attend a brief informational meeting on Wednesday, January 17th in Coach Stewart’s room (Room 208) at 2:50PM. 

Congratulations to the HCHS swim team for their successes at the County Swim meet.

Girls came in 1st place, the guys came in 2nd place and the team received 2nd place overall.

The team will compete again on Wednesday in the Region Swim meet in Douglas, Georgia and our final competition will be Friday at the FPD meet in Macon.

Juniors interested in serving on Prom Committee meet after school Thursday in Mrs. McLean's room 402. You may pick up an application from Mrs. McLean or Mrs. McFadden.

Have a passion for bettering the community? Interested in Community Service Hours? Want to leave behind an impact in the city of Warner Robins and Middle Georgia? Cover to Cover or (C2C) is a Merit-Based Non-Profit organization which has a platform to stimulate the advancement of literacy in Middle and High Schools, initially in Middle Georgia, eventually in the State of Georgia, and ultimately throughout the United States. Being involved in the Houston County (C2C) Chapter is a unique opportunity to get in the ground floor to be a part of an organization that will nurture not only the community but also your own academic career. The first (C2C) Chapter meeting will be at the Chorus Room in the Fine Arts Building on Wednesday, January 17th right after school. The first meeting will include talking about the organization, nominating officers, and talking about the organization’s inaugural banquet. Snacks will be provided. The Houston County High School FFA Dairy Team won first place in the State FFA Dairy Cattle Career Development Event. The event was held at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College in Tifton, Georgia, on December 6, 2017.

Team members include Alden Burke, Emily Hines, Grace Thomas and Emily Williams

Dr. Ronnie Thomas is Houston County High’s FFA advisor.

The Dairy Cattle Career Development Event emphasizes skills in dairy cattle selection and dairy herd management and provides experience in the evaluation of dairy cattle type, production records and dairy herd management. Participants evaluate dairy animals and place by type, give oral reasons for their class placing and take a written examination.

Seniors - January 16th is the absolute final deadline for senior recognition
ads for the yearbook. These must be ordered online, not through Mrs.

Recognition Ads". It will allow you or your parents a chance to personalize
your page by adding photos and notes. The yearbook staff does not have
any access to edit these pages. All pages must be finalized and paid for by
JANUARY 16, 2018. Again, there will be absolutely no opportunity to
purchase a page after this date.

Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. Voluntary Student Accident Insurance

The Houston County School District has again arranged for voluntary student accident insurance. This is strictly voluntary and is not health insurance. The premium is paid by for by the parent or guardian of the student. Several options and plans are available and are described in the 2017-2018 Student Accident Insurance Coverage flyer.

 Those wishing to enroll have the option of mailing the Enrollment Form directly to the address provided or enrolling online following the provided instructions. Please do not send your enrollment form and payment to the school. For any questions you may have, please contact The Young Group at 1-888-574-6288.

1-Please go to the counselors’ office find your orange card, they are in alphabetical order.

2- write the name of the college below the final transcript line.

3- if it is a private school or out of state school you will need to provide me with the address.

4- please write legibly.

5- place in the yellow box on Mrs. Spensley’s counter.

You will not be eligible to receive your transcripts if you owe a fine!
