 9th grade/New Student orientation

We hope that each of you have had a wonderful summer!  This is a reminder that 9th grade/New Student orientation will be on Monday, July 31st at 5:30 in the theater.  All other students will receive their schedules on the first day of school.  We are excited to see our Bears return on Wednesday, August 2nd.  For your convenience, our system is providing free breakfast for all students on the first two days of school.  Below you will find the 2017 High School Menu and the August breakfast menu.  Have a wonderful school year and Bear Down!!!

Voluntary Student Accident Insurance

The Houston County School District has again arranged for voluntary student accident insurance. This is strictly voluntary and is not health insurance. The premium is paid by for by the parent or guardian of the student. Several options and plans are available and are described in the 2017-2018 Student Accident Insurance Coverage flyer.

 Those wishing to enroll have the option of mailing the Enrollment Form directly to the address provided or enrolling online following the provided instructions. Please do not send your enrollment form and payment to the school. For any questions you may have, please contact The Young Group at 1-888-574-6288.

 Support our Arts Education students!  Vote for Houston County High School in the Vans Custom Culture Contest at www.vans.com/customculture. We are the only school from Georgia in the Top 10 for the Southeast Region. The winner from each Region will go out to California for a chance to win $50,000 for the school’s art program. Voting is opened now until May 10. You can vote once per day per email address. Go Bears!




It's opening week of 9 to 5 the musical!  All your favorite parts of the movie are right there in the musical with some great music written by Dolly Parton. The shows are April 28th at 7 pm,  the 29th at 2 pm and 7 p.m. and the 30th at 3 pm. Tickets are $10. We would love to have you there and look forward to seeing you! Bear Down for Drama!




2nd Chance to Purchase Graduate Recognition Signs


The HOCO football/competition cheerleaders are selling Coke products and cheesecakes for the next 3 weeks. Cheesecakes are $23. Both items will be delivered the week of May 15th. Drivers Ed Courses

There are three new upcoming drivers education courses now open for enrollment.  The start dates are Saturday, May 3, April 8 and June 3rd.

1-Please go to the counselors’ office find your orange card, they are in alphabetical order.

2- write the name of the college below the final transcript line.

3- if it is a private school or out of state school you will need to provide me with the address.

4- please write legibly.

5- place in the yellow box on Mrs. Spensley’s counter.

You will not be eligible to receive your transcripts if you owe a fine!

You must go to the counselors’ office
Find your Bright green card
Fill it out and give it to Mrs. Spensley
If you have it turned in by Wednesday it will be in the black wire basket on Friday.
